Pet Dentistry - Bad Breath and Poor Health

DOGGY BREATH!!!
This is a sign of what is going on in the mouth. Teeth and ability to eat properly will be affected bringing on poor digestion and loss of condition or need to eat more food to maintain proper health. But poor dental health will affect more than just your pet’s mouth. Bacteria enter the blood stream and damage your pet’s liver, heart, lungs and kidneys.

Dental care can add 3-5 years to your pet’s life.
Some prescription diets help maintain healthy teeth. We also have toothbrushes and pet flavoured toothpaste (human toothpaste is not recommended for your pet) as brushing daily is recommended.

Depending on your pet’s teeth condition, a dental prophylaxis under general anesthesia may be recommended by your veterinarian. The teeth are cleaned, scaled AND polished. Polishing is absolutely necessary or else the cleaning has to be done all over again in a very short period of time. Some teeth may need to be pulled if infection is too advanced.
