SHOULD CLIPPINGS BE REMOVED AFTER MOWING?
If clippings are long, they should be removed so they don’t shade the growing grass. Clippings to 3 cm. long can be left, providing the lawn is healthy and dense. If, however, the clippings contain weed seeds, they should be removed to prevent the weeds from spreading.
Dense lawn
Adequate fertilization
Aerated soil
Long roots are more drought resistant
Soil high in organic matter
Aeration of compact soil, grass obtains most of its essential nutrient elements for growth from the soil. Aeration of the soil is a rejuvenating cultivation practice. It improves the turf’s ability to obtain water, nutrients and oxygen.
